Colleagues from an opticians in Clifton are lacing up their walking boots in preparation for a sponsored walk to raise money for a charity close to their hearts.
Team members from Specsavers in the Clifton Down Shopping Centre will be getting their steps in on Sunday 1 June by taking part in a 13-mile sponsored walk via the Bristol and Bath Railway Path. The team are focused on reaching a fundraising target of £300 for their chosen cause, Friends of Bristol Eye Hospital, a charity dedicated to supporting Bristol Eye Hospital’s work to provide eyecare and treatment to the community in Bristol.
‘Friends of Bristol Eye Hospital is a brilliant organisation, that does an amazing job and we’re delighted to support them,’ comments Chris Child, store director at Specsavers Clifton. ‘The team have dusted off their trainers and walking boots and they’re ready to go, we’re just hoping the weather holds out!
‘We recognise that times continue to be tough, but even the smallest donation can go a long way in supporting the cause. We appreciate all donations, and we’re looking forward to getting out and about to raise as much money as possible.’

They also assist patients in need with grants for specialised tools, such as insulin monitors for blind diabetic patients or laptops for visually impaired children.
Their work is supported by donations, legacies, and fundraising events, including concerts, garden parties, and talks by notable figures. The funds raised are primarily directed toward enhancing the hospital's services and patient experience.
