Period Friendly Places to return to Clifton Down

Following a very successful visit to Clifton Down Shopping Centre in May, representatives of Period Friendly Places will be returning again on 18th July between 9am and 6pm. They are a small local charity with the mission to end period poverty in Bristol. You will find them on the mall, at the bottom of the travelator.

The team will be there to raise awareness of period poverty and the work their charity does to help the issue, and hopefully to receive kind donations to boost their supply of period producrts to distribute to those in need. All donations are gratefully welcomed. 

The team from Period Friendly Paces want Bristol to be a city of period dignity, in which nobody is held back in life or stigmatised against simply for having a period. They are setting up a network across the city to make period products available for free in community venues (places like libraries, community and health centres, youth clubs, places of worship and food banks) so they can be accessed by people who need them the most.

Shockingly, 40% of Bristol students have missed school due to difficulties in accessing period products, and 41% of women and girls in Bristol have been unable to afford period products (higher than the national average of 27%). The team relies on donations of period products from corporate partners and public donations (boxes are in some local supermarkets and venues) and, along with help from volunteers, distribute them to community venues to be available for those in need.
